Jean Yarbrough (August 22, 1900 – August 2, 1975) was an American film director known for his work in comedy and horror films, primarily during the 1930s and 1940s. Yarbrough began his career in the film industry as an assistant director before moving into directing. He is best known for his work on a series of popular comedy films, including "The Bowery Boys" series, which featured the comedic duo of Leo Gorcey and Huntz Hall. Yarbrough also directed horror films such as "The Devil Bat" (1940), starring Bela Lugosi, which became a cult favorite for its unique blend of horror and camp. Yarbrough's contributions to genre filmmaking and his influence on comedy and horror are well-regarded in cinematic history.
